This protector is an adequate barrier to water if you only need to use it a couple of times. It is basically a plastic bag with a stretchable hole for your leg to go in. It seals around your calf pretty well for a few (around five or fewer) uses before it's stretched out and no longer water-tight. For a few dollars more, you can get the Brown Medical Original which has a hard plastic ring at the top of the boot and a rubberized seal around the leg with much more flexibility and elasticity than the cheaper Sport model. I used an Original in daily use for over six months without a leak. When it did leak, it was in the boot seam and not the stretch seal collar. After buying and briefly using the Sport model, I ordered another Original and it's still going two months later and I expect it to keep going. My recommendation is pass on this Sport model and go with the Original.
