Dj Ortho 79-81473 Kallassy Ankle Support (Right) - S/M Review

I've played basketball all my life. I first suffered one of those horribly grisly, can't-walk-for-a-month ankle sprains when I was 18 (13 years ago). Since then, I've continued to sprain both ankles, without fail, every year or two. Recently I've started wearing these Kallassy ankle braces on both ankles and I'm amazed at how effective they are at preventing ankle sprains. I've now had a half-dozen "I could have just sprained my ankle right now" moments while wearing these braces - e.g. landing on another players foot when going for a rebound. I can honestly say these braces have saved me from weeks of pain and immobility.

I've heard a lot of other basketball players complain about ankle braces causing pain in the arch of the foot. I've also worn a few other braces and experienced that pain as well. These braces are thin enough under the foot, that they are hardly noticeable when wearing (except for they limit the side-to-side mobility of your foot as they should, which is noticeable of course). They are super comfortable. I think they work so well because the main support they provide are from the two big velcro straps that connect the outside of your foot to the outside of your ankle. In effect, you *can't* roll your ankle wearing these unless those two velcro straps were to fail, which seems unlikely (has never happened to me in 1000s of hours of basketball). I'm susceptible to the standard ankle roll (the tendon on the outside of the foot), and these braces work great.
