CND Retention+® Starter Kit Review

I've had my nails done for over 17 years and just recently started doing them myself. I started doing Gel, but wanted to try Acrylic.
This kit has pretty much everything I needed to do them, except a good brush.
A note on brushes, if you are really going to do your nails with Acrylic, and plan to do them consistently, you will need to buy a GOOD brush. I tried out one of the sets on Amazon, sized 4,6,8 and 10 with plastic handles, and they're OK if there's nothing else available, but they are not what you want if you want to have a really good smile line. At first the vrushes made really good lines, but as I used them, the brushes started to "flare" out, so it didn't make good lines at all. Out of 10 nails - only 4 have good smile lines <i covered with polish so no biggie, but if you want the natural french nail - you want the smile line to be right!>. SO - purchase a GOOD brush, or you'll be disappointed!!
As far as the Acrylic powder, Retention Liquid, and ScrubFresh they're great. I had no problems with any of the items in the kit. There are forms <nails> in the kit, but only 10 so some may fit, some may not. The Solar Oil is awesome, I've used it for over 17 years and love it! I found the acrylic itself is quite durable and strong. I've had my nails on for about a week and they look great and none have chipped or broken. They look just like when I used to go to get them done at the salon.
Amount of product....If you start out doing your nails fairly short, you may have enough product, powder anyways, to do your nails quite a few times, at least 10. If you do your nails long, obviously you'll use more powder and won't be able to do them as many times. It is only a little under an ounce of powder for each of the colors.
Things to get to do your nails if you're going to buy this kit: A good nail drill, a good brush, nails <forms, tip extensions - whatever you want to use>, cotton <to use the scrubfresh>, and some files or file blocks.
But for the price of this kit and the amount you do get, I feel it is well worth the money spent. Definitely a "Starter" Kit!
I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try Acrylics without spending a fortune!
